Prison

Transgender activists insist that men who claim a female “gender identity” must be placed in women’s prisons. However, when male inmates have been placed in women’s prisons, they have proved to be a danger to female inmates. The state has a duty to protect inmates whilst they are in custody, and female prisoners have the right to serve their sentences without being subjected to male violence, particularly sexual violence.

This page is separated into two sections. The first section will list cases where men have been placed in women’s prisons and the resulting problems. The second section will list men who are currently serving sentences in male prisons, but claim a female “gender identity.” Many male prisoners who identify as female have a marked history of violence against women and children.

What happens when men are placed in women’s prisons?

Noel Crompton, “Maddison Hall”

cromptonIn 1987 Crompton shot and killed male hitchhiker Lyn Saunders, in New South Wales, Australia. Crompton claimed a female “gender identity,” and in 1999 he was moved to a women’s prison. He retained his male genitalia, but was receiving hormone treatment. He was HIV positive.

An inmate stated that Crompton raped her in 1999, after he arrived at the women’s prison. Other inmates stated they were raped by Crompton while in a relationship with him. Crompton knew he was HIV positive at the time of the assaults, which increases the gravity of the allegations. In 2003, Crompton underwent genital surgery. In 2004 two inmates accused him of sexual assault, and a third stated she witnessed indecent sexual behavior by Crompton. He was placed in segregation in late 2004. The rape charge was dropped only because the victim left the country after being released from jail. A treating psychiatrist considered the allegations of sexual assault, while not proven, to be consistent with his assessment of Crompton and rated him a moderate-high risk of re-offending. However, Crompton was granted parole in 2006.

Richard Masbruch “Sherri”

In 2012, Anna Silver created this petition on behalf of her mother:

Today as I answered my Mothers phone call she spoke to me and sounded slightly more upset than usual, normally she tells me she misses me. Today she told me that Richard Masbruch would be housed at CCWF. He would be the first male to be housed in a womens facility. Not only would he be housed there he would also be housed within her unit 514. Richard Masbruch is a Serial Rapist. During his time in Mens prison after his arrest he cut off his penis, claiming to be transgender. Due to inmates being unable to be interviewed what wasn’t revealed was that Masbruch is in fact still raping women within the facility, just now with foreign objects. He has also brutally injured some of the women within the facility.
Please sign my petition against Richard being allowed in a women’s facility of any kind, so that he may return to a male penitentiary. It would not only help me and my mother but any woman in any facility. Thank you for your help and have a wonderful day. Sincerely, Anna Silver.

In 1991 Richard Masbruch raped and sodomized a Californian woman, and tortured her and her mother. Within days he was arrested in Texas and charged with theft and burglary with the intent to commit a sexual assault. While serving his sentence in Texas, he castrated himself. After completing his sentence in Texas, he was transferred to California to serve a life sentence for the rape and torture. At some point the CDCR provided him with hormones, and in 2008 he was re-classified as female. He has spent time at both the California Institute for Women, and Central California Women’s Facility, and preys on the female inmates.

CCWF inmate Patricia Wright filed a formal girevance against Masbruch in 2008, and sent this letter to the Fresno Bee:

To Whom it May Concern:

There is a critical situation existing at Central California Women’s facility (CCWF) that I feel should be brought to your attention. There is a man by the name of Richard Masbruch who is currently being housed in General Population at an all women’s facility. After a horrible self-mutilation, it became necessary for surgeons to amputate his penis. This does not by any means make this man a woman, it just makes him a man without a penis.

I am sending you a copy of the ‘body’ of the CDCR 602 Grievance that I recently submitted concerning this issue. I would appreciate your feedback and any help or assistance you can offer me. It is not right to force us women to live with a male offender who has been convicted of heinous crimes against women. I have a human right to a reasonable expectation of safety.

Perhaps if the public was informed of this outrageous situation, something could be done. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I would appreciate any advice you can offer me regarding this matter.
